Possible Causes
Failed drive motor tachometer, loose motor harness, worn motor, failed main control motor drive circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the washer before accessing the motor or bottom panel. Tip the washer only if stable and supported.
- Reset and test: Unplug for 5 minutes, then run a drain & spin with an empty tub. If F7E1 returns, continue.
- Inspect motor connections:
- Remove the rear or bottom access panel.
- Locate the drive motor at the bottom of the tub.
- Check the motor connector and harness for looseness, corrosion, or damage. Reseat firmly.
- Check for obstruction: Ensure nothing is jammed between the tub and cabinet that could prevent rotation.
- Test motor/tach: Using the tech sheet, measure resistance of the motor windings and tachometer. If readings are out of spec, replace the motor assembly.
- Replace drive motor if faulty: Remove the drive belt (if belt-driven) or rotor (for direct-drive), unbolt the motor, install the new Amana-compatible motor, and reassemble.
If the motor and tach test good, the main control board may not be driving the motor correctly and may need replacement.
