Possible Causes
Clogged drain pump filter, blocked drain hose, failed drain pump, foreign object in pump impeller, standpipe or house drain blockage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the washer before accessing the pump. Water may spill when hoses are removed; have towels and a shallow pan ready.
- Check drain hose:
- Ensure the drain hose is not kinked or crushed behind the washer.
- Verify the hose is not inserted too far into the standpipe (should be about 4–6 inches).
- Clean pump filter (if accessible):
- Remove the lower front access panel.
- Locate the drain pump clean-out cap.
- Place a pan under the pump and slowly unscrew the cap to drain water.
- Remove lint, coins, and debris from the filter and impeller area.
- Inspect pump impeller: Ensure the impeller spins freely and is not broken. If damaged, replace the pump.
- Test pump operation: After reassembly, run a drain & spin. If the pump hums but does not move water, or is silent, replace the drain pump.
