Possible Causes
Open or shorted drain pump winding, loose pump connector, damaged wiring harness, failed control board pump relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the washer before testing the pump or wiring.
- Inspect pump wiring: Access the bottom or rear of the washer and locate the drain pump. Check the connector for corrosion or loose pins and reseat it.
- Test pump resistance: Disconnect the pump and measure resistance across the terminals with a multimeter. Compare to the spec in the tech sheet. An open or very low reading indicates a bad pump.
- Replace drain pump if faulty: Remove mounting screws, disconnect hoses (catching water in a pan), and install a new Amana-compatible pump.
- Check harness to control: If the pump tests good, inspect the wiring from the pump to the main control for breaks or shorts.
If wiring and pump are good, the main control board pump relay may be defective and require replacement.
