Top-load washer will not start; display shows "LdL" indicating lid failed to lock.

Safety: Unplug the washer before working on the lid lock.

• Check lid closure: Ensure the lid closes fully and evenly. Remove any items resting on the lid.
• Inspect lid strike: Look for a broken or missing plastic strike on the lid. Replace if damaged.
• Listen for lock: Start a cycle and listen for the lock click. If no sound and "LdL" appears, suspect the lock.
• Inspect lid lock assembly:
  • Remove the top panel or console to access the lock.
  • Check wiring connections and reseat them.
• Replace lid lock: If the lock does not engage, install a new Amana lid lock assembly and test.
