Washer is very loud during spin; banging, knocking, or roaring noise from the tub area.

Safety: Unplug the washer before removing panels. Do not operate the washer with covers removed except for brief diagnostics.

• Check for simple causes: Ensure the washer is level and not contacting walls or cabinets during spin.
• Inspect suspension: On top-loaders, check suspension rods and springs for wear or breakage. Replace as a set if worn.
• Spin drum by hand: With power off, rotate the drum/basket by hand. A rough, grinding feel or roaring sound indicates bad bearings.
• Check for play: Lift up on the basket (top-load) or push up on the drum (front-load). Excessive vertical or lateral play suggests bearing or spider failure.
• Replace bearing or tub assembly: On many Amana models, bearings are integrated into the outer tub and require replacing the entire tub assembly. This is a complex repair often best left to a professional.
