Washer makes a grinding or scraping noise during wash or spin.

Safety: Unplug the washer before spinning the drum by hand or removing panels.

• Check drum/basket: Rotate the drum by hand. Listen for scraping and note where in the rotation it occurs.
• Inspect tub gap: Shine a flashlight between the inner and outer tub to look for bra wires, coins, or other objects. Remove if accessible.
• Check pulley and weights: Access the rear of the washer and inspect the drive pulley for looseness or rubbing. Tighten or replace as needed. Ensure tub counterweights are secure.
• Evaluate drum support: If the noise is accompanied by excessive drum play, the drum spider or bearings may be failing and the tub/drum assembly may need replacement.
