Possible Causes

Faulty motor tachometer coil, Loose or damaged motor wiring harness, Worn carbon brushes on universal motor, Defective motor control circuit on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer before accessing the motor. The drum and motor can move suddenly.

  • Step 1 – Access the motor:
    • Remove the rear panel of the Arctic washer.
    • Remove the drive belt from the motor pulley and drum pulley.
    • Unplug the motor connector and remove the mounting bolts to slide the motor out.
  • Step 2 – Inspect wiring and tachometer:
    • Check the motor connector for corrosion or burnt pins.
    • Inspect the small tachometer coil at the rear of the motor for cracks or loose fit.
  • Step 3 – Check carbon brushes (if fitted):
    • On universal motors, remove the brush holders and inspect the carbon brushes.
    • If they are shorter than about 1 cm or unevenly worn, replace both brushes with Arctic-compatible parts.
  • Step 4 – Test tachometer coil (advanced):
    • Measure resistance across the tachometer terminals; typical values are 100–200 Ω (check service data).
    • Open circuit or very high resistance indicates a faulty tachometer.
  • Step 5 – Reassemble and test:
    • Reinstall the motor, reconnect the harness, and refit the belt with correct tension.
    • Run a spin-only program to verify operation.
  • If E06 remains, the main control board motor drive circuit may be defective and should be checked by a professional.
