Possible Causes
Shorted motor windings, Shorted motor triac on PCB, Damaged motor harness causing short to chassis, Water ingress into motor connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer immediately. Do not continue to run the machine if there is a burning smell or visible smoke.
- Step 1 – Visual inspection of motor area:
- Remove the rear panel.
- Check for signs of water leakage onto the motor or wiring.
- Inspect the motor connector for burning, melting, or corrosion.
- Step 2 – Check for drum obstruction:
- Rotate the drum by hand; if it is very stiff or grinding, a mechanical jam may be overloading the motor.
- Investigate for foreign objects between the inner and outer drum (e.g., bra wires).
- Step 3 – Electrical tests (advanced):
- Disconnect the motor and measure winding resistance; compare with Arctic specifications.
- Very low resistance or visible burning indicates a shorted motor that must be replaced.
- Step 4 – Dry and secure connections:
- If there is minor moisture, dry the area thoroughly and correct any leaks (door seal, tub-to-pump hose).
- Reseat the motor connector firmly.
- If E09 returns after motor replacement or wiring repair, the main control board is likely damaged and should be replaced by a professional.
