Washer emits a high-pitched squealing or scraping noise when the drum turns.

Safety first: Unplug the washer. Avoid spinning the drum at high speed by hand if scraping is severe.

• Step 1 – Inspect drum interior:
  • Check all drum holes for protruding objects.
  • Inspect plastic drum paddles for cracks or looseness.
• Step 2 – Check door seal area:
  • Look between the drum edge and door seal for trapped items.
• Step 3 – Remove foreign objects:
  • On some Arctic models, drum paddles can be removed from inside the drum to access trapped items.
  • Alternatively, access may be gained via the heater opening after removing the heater.
• Step 4 – Replace damaged paddles:
  • If a drum lifter is broken, replace it with the correct Arctic part.
• After removal of the object, rotate the drum by hand to ensure the noise is gone before running a cycle.
