Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump filter, Clogged drain hose or standpipe, Faulty drain pump motor, Foreign object in pump impeller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the washer. Be prepared for water spillage when opening the filter.
- Access the pump filter: Open the lower front service flap. Place a shallow tray and towels under the filter cap.
- Clean the filter: Slowly unscrew the filter cap to let water drain. Remove the filter and clear any coins, lint, or debris. Check inside the pump housing for foreign objects.
- Check the drain hose: Inspect the drain hose at the back for kinks or blockages. Detach from the standpipe or sink trap and flush through with water.
- Test the pump: With power still disconnected, reach into the pump and spin the impeller with your finger. It should turn freely without grinding. If jammed or loose, the pump may need replacement.
- Electrical test: Remove the lower front panel or rear panel (model dependent), locate the drain pump, and test coil resistance with a multimeter. If open circuit, replace the pump with a Candy-compatible drain pump.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the filter, close the flap, reconnect power, and run a drain or spin-only program to confirm operation.
