Possible Causes

Failed heating element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Loose or burnt heater wiring, Defective main control board heater relay

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from the mains before accessing internal components. Heating elements can retain heat after use.

Step-by-step checks:

  • Access the heater: On most CDA washers the heater is located at the bottom of the rear of the tub. Remove the rear panel to expose the heater terminals and retaining nut.
  • Test the element: Disconnect the wires and measure resistance across the heater terminals. Typical values are 20–30 Ω. An open circuit or visible burn marks indicate a failed element.
  • Check for earth leakage: Measure resistance between each heater terminal and the metal chassis. Any low resistance (under several megaohms) suggests insulation breakdown—replace the heater.
  • Inspect the NTC sensor: Many CDA heaters have an integrated or adjacent NTC sensor. Measure its resistance at room temperature (often 20–30 kΩ). If it reads open, shorted, or does not change with temperature, replace the sensor.
  • Examine wiring and PCB: Look for burnt connectors at the heater and on the control board. If the heater and sensor are good but E05 remains, the PCB heater relay or triac may be defective and should be checked by a technician.
  • Replace parts as needed: To replace the heater, loosen the central nut, push the bolt inwards to release the seal, and carefully pull the element out. Fit the new CDA-compatible heater with a light smear of silicone-safe lubricant on the seal, tighten the nut evenly, and re-test for leaks.
