Possible Causes

Open or shorted NTC sensor, Loose NTC wiring connector, Damaged harness between NTC and PCB, PCB temperature sensing circuit fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from mains before accessing the heater area.

Step-by-step checks:

  • Locate the NTC: On many CDA models the NTC is clipped into the heater bracket at the bottom of the tub. Remove the rear panel to access it.
  • Test resistance: Disconnect the NTC plug and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare with CDA service data (commonly around 20 kΩ at 25°C). A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates failure.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the NTC harness for cuts or burns. Reseat the connector at both the sensor and PCB ends.
  • Replace NTC if faulty: Unclip or unscrew the sensor and fit a new CDA-compatible NTC. Ensure it is fully inserted into the heater pocket for accurate readings.
  • PCB check: If a known-good NTC still results in E12, the control board's temperature circuit may be defective and require replacement.
