Possible Causes
Water leak into base tray, Faulty anti-flood float switch, Loose hose or clamp, Cracked tub or sump hose
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and turn off the water supply immediately if a leak is suspected.
Step-by-step checks:
- Access base tray: Tilt the machine slightly backwards (with assistance) and remove the lower rear or bottom panel if fitted. Look for standing water in the base.
- Dry the base: Use towels or a sponge to remove all water. Locate the float switch (often a polystyrene float with a microswitch). Ensure it moves freely and is not stuck in the raised position.
- Identify leak source: Run a short fill cycle while observing the underside (with panels off and extreme caution). Check the door seal, sump hose, drain pump, inlet hoses, and tub seams for drips.
- Repair leaks: Tighten hose clamps, replace split hoses, or replace a damaged door seal. If the outer tub is cracked, a tub replacement or professional repair is usually required.
- Check float switch: Test the float switch with a multimeter for correct open/closed operation as the float moves. Replace if faulty.
- Reassemble and test: Once dry and repaired, reassemble panels and run a full cycle to confirm no further leaks and that E13 is cleared.
