Possible Causes
Defective door lock switch, Misaligned door latch, Broken door strike, Loose wiring to door lock assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before removing any panels or working near the door lock wiring.
- Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Ensure no clothing is trapped between the door and the gasket that could prevent full latching.
- Inspect door strike: Look at the plastic door strike on the door. If it is cracked, loose, or missing, the lock cannot engage. Replace if damaged.
- Clean latch area: Wipe away detergent residue or lint buildup around the door latch opening on the cabinet.
- Reset power: Unplug the washer for 5 minutes, then plug back in and try a spin or quick wash cycle. Sometimes the control board will clear a temporary lock error.
- Advanced inspection: Remove the front or top panel (depending on Comfee model) to access the door lock assembly. Check the wiring harness connector for a tight fit and no burn marks. If the lock coil tests open or the microswitch does not change state when the latch is engaged, replace the door lock assembly.
