Possible Causes

Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked drain hose, Foreign object in drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer. Have towels and a shallow pan ready; water will spill when opening the filter or hose.

  • Check drain hose: Ensure the drain hose at the back is not kinked, crushed, or inserted too far into the standpipe (which can cause siphoning issues).
  • Clean pump filter: On many Comfee front-load models, there is an access door at the bottom front. Open it, place a pan under the filter cap, and slowly unscrew the cap to let water drain. Remove lint, coins, and debris from the filter and housing.
  • Inspect pump impeller: With the filter removed, look inside at the plastic impeller. Make sure it spins freely and is not jammed by small objects.
  • Reassemble and test: Reinstall the filter cap securely, close the access door, and run a drain/spin cycle. If E5 returns and you hear no pump noise, the pump motor may be faulty.
  • Advanced replacement: Access the drain pump from the bottom or rear of the washer. Disconnect the wiring connector and hose clamps, remove the pump assembly, and install a new OEM Comfee-compatible drain pump.
