Possible Causes
Defective motor tachometer sensor, Overloaded drum, Loose motor connector, Faulty motor control circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the motor or control board.
- Reduce load: Remove some items from the drum and try a smaller, balanced load. Overloading can cause motor overcurrent and E8.
- Check drum rotation: Spin the drum by hand to ensure it moves freely without scraping or heavy resistance.
- Inspect motor wiring: Remove the rear panel and locate the drive motor. Verify that the multi-pin connector is fully seated and that wires are not damaged.
- Check tachometer: On many motors, the tachometer coil is integrated at the rear of the motor. Inspect for physical damage. If you have a multimeter and service data, test the tach coil resistance.
- Control board diagnosis: If motor and tachometer test good but E8 persists, the motor drive circuit on the main PCB may be defective and require replacement by a professional.
