Possible Causes
Failed drive motor, Broken drive belt (belt-driven models), Faulty motor capacitor (top-load), Defective main control board output
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before accessing the motor or belt.
- Listen for motor: During wash, listen for humming or clicking. A humming motor with no movement may indicate a seized motor or bad capacitor.
- Check belt: Remove the rear panel and inspect the drive belt. If it is off the pulley or broken, replace it and check pulleys for damage.
- Spin drum by hand: If the drum is very stiff or jammed, inspect for foreign objects between the tub and drum or bearing failure.
- Test motor and capacitor: Use a multimeter to check motor windings and capacitor value. Replace any failed components.
- Control output: If motor and belt are good, the main PCB may not be sending power to the motor and may need replacement.
