Possible Causes

Failed temperature sensor (NTC), loose wiring to NTC, shorted heating element (if equipped), faulty main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and turn off water supply before accessing internal components.

Check temperature sensor circuit:

  • Locate NTC: On most Crosley front-load washers, the NTC sensor is mounted in the heater housing or directly in the outer tub near the heater element.
  • Inspect wiring: Remove the rear panel. Find the two-wire connector going to the NTC. Check for broken, pinched, or corroded wires. Reseat the connector firmly.
  • Test resistance: With the washer unplugged, disconnect the NTC and measure its resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature (68–77°F / 20–25°C), most NTCs read roughly 20k–30k ohms (check your tech sheet for exact spec). If reading is open (OL) or near 0 ohms, the sensor is bad.
  • Check heater (if present): Inspect the heater terminals for signs of arcing or shorts to ground. A shorted heater can trigger temperature-related faults.

Corrective action: Replace the NTC sensor if readings are out of range. Ensure the new sensor is seated fully and wiring is secure. If the NTC and wiring test good, the main control board may be misreading the sensor and require replacement by a professional.
