How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and prepare for water spillage.
- Clean drain filter thoroughly: Open the lower access door, place a tray, and remove the filter. Use a brush to clean lint, hair, and debris from the filter and pump cavity.
- Check pump impeller: With the filter removed, look inside the pump housing. Rotate the impeller with a finger or screwdriver. It should turn freely. Remove any coins, pins, or fabric pieces.
- Flush drain hose: Detach the drain hose from the back and flush with water to ensure full flow.
- Test pump operation: Reassemble, plug in, and run a drain-only program. Listen for the pump running. If it hums but does not move water, or is very noisy, replace the drain pump.
If E21 persists after cleaning and hose checks, the pump or control board output may be faulty and should be tested by a technician.
