Possible Causes

Loose or broken drive belt, Faulty motor capacitor (for induction motor models), Worn carbon brushes on universal motor, Defective motor winding or motor control circuit on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer before removing any panels or touching internal components.

  • Check for overload or unbalanced load: Open the door or lid and remove some clothes if the drum is overfilled. Redistribute heavy items (like blankets) evenly and try the spin cycle again.
  • Inspect drive belt: Remove the rear panel. Check if the belt is still on the motor pulley and drum pulley. If the belt is off, frayed, or broken, replace it with a compatible Dawlance drive belt and ensure proper tension.
  • Check motor capacitor (if fitted): On some Dawlance top-load and semi-automatic models, a start/run capacitor is mounted near the motor. Look for bulging, leaking, or burnt smell. Replace with the same µF rating and voltage if defective.
  • Inspect motor brushes (universal motor models): If your Dawlance front-loader uses a brushed motor, remove the motor and check the carbon brushes. If they are worn down to a few millimeters, replace both brushes as a pair.
  • Test spin again: Reassemble, plug in, and run a spin-only program. If E3 persists, the motor windings or motor control circuit on the main PCB may be faulty.

For PCB or motor winding faults, professional diagnosis by a Dawlance technician is recommended.
