Possible Causes
Seized or partially seized drum bearings, Foreign object between inner and outer tub, Shorted motor winding, Overloaded drum
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer.
- Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. If it feels rough, noisy, or very stiff, suspect bearing or foreign object issues.
- Inspect between tubs: Shine a light through the drum holes to look for trapped objects (bra wires, nails). Remove if visible.
- Reduce load: Remove some laundry and try a spin-only cycle with fewer items.
If E31 persists and the drum is hard to turn, the bearings or motor may need replacement. This is a complex repair best handled by a Dawlance service technician.
