Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before inspecting the drum or motor.
- Reduce load: Remove some laundry and ensure the drum is not packed tightly. Try running a rinse and spin with a smaller load.
- Check drum rotation by hand: With the machine off, rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly with minimal resistance. Grinding, stiffness, or scraping indicates bearing or foreign object issues.
- Inspect motor capacitor (if present): On Dawlance top-load and semi-automatic models, locate the motor capacitor near the motor. Replace if bulged, leaking, or tested out-of-spec with a capacitance meter.
- Check for overheating: If the motor is very hot, allow it to cool for 30–60 minutes, then try again with a light load.
If E6 returns even with a light load and free-spinning drum, the motor windings or control board may be damaged. Contact a Dawlance service technician for motor and PCB testing.
