Washer shows E18, drain pump running continuously or water level not detected correctly

Safety first: Unplug the washer before adjusting the drain hose.

• Check drain hose height: Ensure the end of the drain hose is at the height specified in the Defy manual (typically 60–100 cm above floor). If too low, raise it using a standpipe or hook.
• Correct insertion depth: The hose should not be pushed more than 10–15 cm into the standpipe. Pull it back if inserted too far to prevent siphoning.
• Secure hose: Use the supplied U-bracket or clamp to secure the hose in place.

If installation is correct and E18 persists, the pressure sensor or control board may be misreading the water level and should be checked by a technician.
