E3
Defy
Unbalanced Load / Spin Protection
Washer stops during spin, E3 displayed, drum may be unbalanced

Possible Causes
Load bunched to one side of drum, Very small or very heavy single item, Worn suspension rods or shock absorbers on Defy tub, Faulty imbalance sensor (if fitted)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not open the door until the drum has fully stopped.
- Redistribute the load: Pause the cycle (or wait for door unlock), open the door, and manually separate and redistribute laundry evenly around the drum. Avoid washing a single heavy item like a bath mat alone.
- Adjust load size: If the drum is underloaded (1–2 light items), add a few more similar garments to help balance. If overloaded, remove some items and restart spin.
- Check machine level: Ensure the Defy washer is level on the floor. Adjust the front and rear feet so the machine does not rock when pushed diagonally.
- Inspect suspension (advanced): If the machine frequently shows E3 even with balanced loads, the suspension rods or shock absorbers may be worn. With power off, press down on the drum from the top; it should rebound smoothly without excessive bouncing. Excessive bounce indicates worn suspension components that should be replaced.
Persistent imbalance errors with normal loads may require a technician to inspect the suspension and imbalance detection system.
