Possible Causes
Torn or punctured door gasket on Defy front-loader, Foreign object trapped between door glass and seal, Build-up of detergent residue lifting seal lip, Loose retaining band or clamp
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and mop up any spilled water to avoid slipping.
- Inspect the seal: Open the door and carefully pull back the grey rubber gasket. Look for tears, holes, or cuts, especially at the bottom.
- Remove foreign objects: Check for bra wires, coins, or other sharp items lodged in the seal folds. Remove them and wipe the seal clean with a damp cloth.
- Clean residue: Use warm water and mild detergent to scrub away soap scum that may prevent the seal from contacting the glass properly.
- Check retaining band: Ensure the metal or spring band around the front of the seal is in place and tight. If it has come off, refit it into the groove and secure the spring at the bottom.
If the gasket is visibly damaged, it must be replaced with a compatible Defy door seal to stop leaks.
