Washer powers on but will not start cycle when Start/Pause is pressed

Safety first: Do not attempt to bypass door locks or safety circuits.

• Check door: Close the door firmly until you hear a click. Ensure no clothing is trapped.
• Child lock: Look for a key or lock symbol on the display. If lit, disable child lock according to the Defy manual (often by holding specific buttons for several seconds).
• Reset program: Turn the selector to OFF, wait a few seconds, then reselect a program and press Start/Pause firmly.

If the button feels unresponsive or the machine intermittently starts, the control panel or door lock may need replacement.
