Possible Causes

Defective door interlock switch, Broken or misaligned door latch hook, Wiring harness issue between door lock and main PCB, Faulty main control board (PCB)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer and turn off the water supply before any work. Do not bypass the door lock for testing while the machine is powered.

Step-by-step checks:

  • Inspect the door and latch: Open the door and check the metal/plastic latch hook on the door. If it is loose, bent, or cracked, the door lock cannot engage. Replace the door hook if damaged.
  • Check for door misalignment: Gently lift the door up and down. Excessive play can prevent the interlock from engaging. Tighten hinge screws on the front panel. If the hinge is worn, replace the hinge assembly.
  • Test the door interlock: Remove the front retaining band of the door seal and pull the seal back near the lock. Unscrew the door lock assembly and carefully pull it out. Check the connector for corrosion or loose pins. With a multimeter, test continuity across the lock terminals when the lock is engaged (refer to Grundig service diagram for pinout). If no continuity, replace the door lock assembly.
  • Inspect wiring to PCB: Trace the harness from the door lock to the main control board. Look for pinched, broken, or burnt wires. Repair or replace damaged wiring and ensure connectors are fully seated on the PCB.
  • Control board check: If the door lock and wiring test good but E01 persists, the main PCB relay or input circuit may be faulty. Visual inspection may show burnt components. At this point, replacement of the main control board is recommended and is best done by a qualified technician.
