Possible Causes

Partially blocked drain pump, Blocked pressure sensor hose not detecting empty tub, Faulty pressure sensor, Weak drain pump motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer and prepare for water spillage when opening the pump filter.

Step-by-step checks:

  • Clean pump filter and housing: Open the lower service flap, unscrew the filter, and remove all debris. Check deep inside the pump housing for small objects that may intermittently block the impeller.
  • Check drain hose and standpipe: Ensure the hose is not inserted too far into the standpipe (can cause siphoning) and is not blocked. Flush with water.
  • Inspect pressure hose: Remove and clear the small hose from the tub to the pressure sensor. Soap residue can trap air and prevent accurate empty detection.
  • Test pressure sensor: Measure sensor output or resistance according to the Grundig service manual. Replace if readings are unstable or out of range.
  • Evaluate pump performance: Run a drain-only program with the filter installed and observe the flow at the drain hose. A weak or noisy pump may need replacement.
