Possible Causes
Leaking door seal (gasket), Loose or cracked drain hose or tub-to-pump hose, Leaking detergent drawer or inlet hose, Hole or crack in outer tub
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and turn off water supply immediately. Do not tip the machine while plugged in.
Step-by-step checks:
- Access base tray: Carefully pull the washer forward and tilt it slightly backward (with help) to inspect the bottom. Many Grundig models have a float switch in the base tray that triggers E13 when water is present.
- Dry the base: Mop up any water in the base tray with towels or a sponge. Do not bypass the float switch permanently; it is a safety device.
- Identify leak source: Run a short fill cycle while observing the machine (panels removed if necessary). Check the door seal, detergent drawer area, inlet hoses, tub-to-pump hose, and drain pump for drips.
- Repair or replace leaking parts: Tighten hose clamps, replace cracked hoses, and replace a torn door gasket. If the outer tub is cracked, replacement of the tub assembly is usually required and may not be economical on older machines.
- Reset error: Once the leak is fixed and the base is dry, plug in the washer and run a test cycle to confirm E13 does not reappear.
