Possible Causes
Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked or kinked drain hose, Foreign object in drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. Water may spill when opening the filter—have towels and a shallow pan ready.
- Access the pump filter: On most Haier front-load models, the drain pump filter is behind a small lower front panel or flap. Open it and slowly unscrew the filter cap to let water drain into a pan.
- Clean the filter: Remove coins, lint, buttons, and debris from the filter and pump cavity. Spin the impeller with your finger; it should turn freely.
- Check the drain hose: Inspect the entire length of the drain hose for kinks, clogs, or a blocked standpipe. Flush the hose with water if needed.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the filter cap securely, close the panel, plug the washer back in, and run a drain/spin cycle.
- If E2 persists: The drain pump motor may be weak or burned out. With power disconnected, access the bottom front or rear panel, disconnect pump wiring, and test the pump coil with a multimeter. Replace the drain pump assembly if out of spec or if the impeller is damaged.
