Washer displays E4 and may not start or may stop mid-cycle; often related to door or lid not locking.

Safety first: Unplug the washer before removing any panels or working near wiring.

• Check door closure: Make sure no clothing is trapped in the door seal and that the door closes firmly with an audible click.
• Inspect the door strike: Examine the plastic or metal strike on the door for cracks or misalignment. Tighten screws or replace the strike if damaged.
• Clean the latch area: Wipe away detergent residue or debris around the door lock opening that may prevent full engagement.
• Reset power: Leave the washer unplugged for 5 minutes, then reconnect and try a short cycle.
• If E4 remains: Remove the front or top panel to access the door lock assembly. Check the wiring harness for loose connectors or burned contacts. If the lock coil tests open or the mechanism is physically damaged, replace the door lock assembly.
