Possible Causes
Worn carbon brushes on universal motor, Faulty tachometer sensor on motor, Broken or loose motor wiring harness, Defective motor or motor triac on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before accessing the motor. Be cautious of sharp metal edges.
- Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly. If it is stiff or seized, the problem may be mechanical (bearing or foreign object) rather than motor electrical.
- Access the motor: Remove the rear panel and drive belt. Unbolt the motor from the tub and carefully lower it out.
- Inspect carbon brushes: On Hansa motors with brushes, remove the brush holders and check brush length. If brushes are shorter than about 1 cm or unevenly worn, replace both brushes with compatible Hansa motor brushes.
- Check tachometer sensor: At the rear of the motor, inspect the tachometer coil and magnet. Ensure the magnet is intact and the connector is firmly seated. Measure resistance of the tach coil (typically a few hundred ohms). Replace the tachometer if open or damaged.
- Inspect wiring harness: Trace the motor harness to the control module. Look for broken wires, chafing, or loose plugs. Repair as needed.
- If E06 persists: The motor windings or the motor control triac on the main board may be faulty. Motor replacement or board repair is recommended via a professional.
