Possible Causes
Loose tachometer connector on motor, Broken tachometer coil, Damaged wiring to control module, Faulty control module input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the motor.
- Check tach connector: At the rear of the motor, ensure the small tachometer connector is firmly attached.
- Measure tach coil: Disconnect the tach and measure resistance; a typical value is a few hundred ohms. Replace the tachometer or motor if open circuit.
- Inspect wiring: Trace the tach wires to the control board and repair any breaks or chafing.
- Control module: If wiring and tach are good, the control board may not be reading the signal correctly and may need replacement.
