Possible Causes
Failed door interlock assembly, Misaligned door catch, Broken or loose wiring to door lock, Faulty main control board door lock relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before working on the door lock. Do not force the door open.
F06 indicates the control cannot confirm the door is locked.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door is fully closed and the latch engages firmly. Inspect the plastic door catch for cracks or wear; replace if damaged.
- Access door lock: Remove the front retaining band of the door seal and peel back the seal near the lock. The door interlock is held by 2–3 screws from the front.
- Inspect wiring: With the lock exposed, check the wiring connector is fully seated and wires are not burnt or broken. Reseat the connector.
- Replace door lock if suspect: If the lock is physically damaged, smells burnt, or F06 persists, replace the door interlock with a Hotpoint-compatible part. Transfer wiring one by one to the new lock.
- Reassemble: Refit the lock, screws, and door seal band securely to prevent leaks.
- Control board check: If a new lock does not resolve the issue, the door lock relay or circuit on the main board may be faulty and the board may require replacement by a technician.
