Possible Causes
Shorted heating element, Heater relay stuck closed on control board, Damaged heater wiring, Moisture ingress around heater terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. If your RCD has tripped, reset only after unplugging the washer.
F08 often indicates a short in the heating circuit.
- Inspect heater area: Remove the rear panel and check for signs of arcing, burning, or water around the heater terminals.
- Test heater to earth: Disconnect heater wires. With a multimeter on resistance, measure between each terminal and the metal tub. Any measurable resistance (other than infinite) indicates earth leakage; replace the heater.
- Check wiring harness: Inspect the heater wires back to the control board for damage or melted insulation. Repair or replace as needed.
- Control board: If the heater is good but F08 persists, the heater relay on the control board may be stuck. This requires control board repair or replacement by a professional.
- Drying out: If there are signs of moisture, allow the machine to dry fully (door and rear panel off for 24 hours) before retesting, but still replace any component that shows tracking or burning.
