Possible Causes
Corrupted EEPROM on control board, Power surge damage, Incorrect or failed firmware, Loose control board connectors
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before accessing the control panel.
F09 indicates a memory or software issue in the main control.
- Power reset: Unplug the machine for at least 30 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge. Plug back in and try a simple rinse/spin cycle.
- Check control connections: Remove the top cover and control panel. Ensure all connectors to the main PCB and user interface board are fully seated and free of corrosion.
- Inspect for damage: Look for burnt components or water damage on the control board. If present, the board must be replaced.
- Software reprogramming: Some Hotpoint models require the control board to be reprogrammed with the correct configuration using manufacturer tools. This must be done by an authorized technician.
- Board replacement: If F09 persists after reseating connectors and power reset, replace the main control board with the correct part number for your model.
