Possible Causes
Torn or perished door seal, Foreign object trapped in seal, Loose door seal retaining band, Excessive suds causing overflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and turn off water. Mop up any spilled water to avoid slipping.
- Inspect door seal: Open the door and carefully examine the grey rubber seal all the way around. Look for tears, holes, or splits, especially at the bottom.
- Remove debris: Check the seal folds for coins, bra wires, or other objects. Remove any debris.
- Check retaining band: Ensure the metal or wire band around the front of the seal is in place and tight. Refit if it has come off.
- Replace seal if damaged: Remove the outer and inner retaining bands, pull off the old seal, and fit a new Hotpoint-compatible door gasket, aligning the drain holes at the bottom. Refit bands securely.
- Use correct detergent: Excess suds can cause leaks. Use HE detergent and correct dosage for your water hardness and load size.
