Possible Causes
Frequent low-temperature washes, Excess detergent use, Blocked drain system retaining dirty water, Dirty door seal and dispenser drawer
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before cleaning internal parts.
- Run a maintenance wash: Run an empty 90–95°C cycle with a washing machine cleaner or 1–2 cups of white vinegar (check your manual for compatibility).
- Clean door seal: Wipe the seal folds with a cloth soaked in hot soapy water or diluted bleach. Remove any visible mold or residue.
- Clean dispenser drawer: Remove the detergent drawer and scrub away mold and detergent build-up. Clean the cavity as well.
- Check drain system: Clean the pump filter and ensure the drain hose and standpipe are not partially blocked, which can leave dirty water in the machine.
- Future prevention: Use the correct amount of HE detergent, run regular hot washes, and leave the door and dispenser slightly open between uses to allow drying.
