Possible Causes
Heater leaking to earth, Damaged wiring harness touching chassis, Faulty motor with insulation breakdown, Faulty mains filter (suppressor)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker without finding the cause. Unplug the washer before inspection.
- Identify when trip occurs: Note if the trip happens during heating, spinning, or randomly. This helps narrow down the suspect component.
- Inspect wiring: Remove top and rear panels and look for chafed wires touching the metal cabinet. Repair with proper insulation and clips.
- Test heater to earth: As described under F08, check for continuity between heater terminals and the tub. Replace heater if leakage is found.
- Motor test: Inspect the motor and wiring. If the trip occurs during spin and the motor smells burnt or shows signs of arcing, the motor may need replacement.
- Mains filter: The interference suppressor near the power cord entry can fail and trip the RCD. Inspect for burning and replace if suspect.
Warning: If you are not experienced with electrical testing, contact a qualified technician.
