Washer shows E HE and may stop heating or abort hot cycles (models with internal heater).

Safety: Unplug the washer before testing heater circuits; risk of electric shock.

• Access heater: Remove rear panel to access the tub heater terminals.
• Test element: Disconnect heater wires and measure resistance across the heater. An open circuit indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
• Check thermostat: If equipped, test the high-limit thermostat for continuity. Replace if open.
• Inspect wiring: Look for burnt connectors or melted insulation along the heater wiring harness. Repair or replace as needed.
• Control board: If heater and thermostat are good, the heater relay on the control board may be faulty and the board should be replaced.
