Possible Causes
Failed drive belt, Faulty drive motor, Defective motor control board, Seized tub bearings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the washer before removing rear or bottom panels.
- Check for error combination: Note any additional codes (e.g., motor or tachometer errors) that may accompany E SP.
- Inspect belt: Remove the rear panel and inspect the drive belt for breakage, glazing, or slipping. Replace if worn or broken.
- Spin tub by hand: With the belt removed, spin the tub pulley by hand. If it is stiff, noisy, or rough, the tub bearings may be failing and require tub/bearing replacement.
- Motor test: Check motor windings with a multimeter for continuity. If open or shorted, replace the drive motor.
- Control board: If belt and motor are good, the motor control board may not be sending power to the motor and should be tested and replaced if faulty.
