Safety: Unplug the washer before accessing the motor or drive system.

• Spin test: Rotate the tub by hand. It should move smoothly and coast. If stiff or noisy, inspect bearings and drive components.
• Inspect motor sensor: On direct-drive models, check the tachometer or hall sensor on the motor for damage or loose connection. Reseat or replace as needed.
• Check for obstructions: Ensure nothing is caught between the tub and cabinet or under the agitator/wash plate.
• Control board: If mechanical parts are free and the sensor is good, the control board may misinterpret torque and require replacement.
