Top-load washer agitator moves weakly or only the bottom portion moves.

Safety: Unplug the washer before removing the agitator.

• Remove agitator: Pop off the fabric softener cap, remove the inner cap and bolt, then pull the agitator out.
• Inspect dogs: Separate the upper and lower agitator halves and inspect the plastic dogs. Replace if worn smooth.
• Check splines: Ensure the agitator and drive shaft splines are not stripped. Replace the agitator if worn.
• Reassemble: Install new dogs and reassemble the agitator, tightening the center bolt securely.
