Washer fills but will not agitate; drum does not move during wash portion of cycle.

Safety: Unplug the washer before removing the agitator or accessing the drive system.

• Check for motor sound: If you hear the motor running but the agitator does not move, suspect a mechanical disconnect such as agitator dogs or belt.
• Inspect agitator: Remove the agitator cap and bolt, then pull the agitator off. Examine the dogs or splines for wear. Replace the agitator repair kit if worn smooth.
• Inspect belt: Remove the rear or bottom panel and check the drive belt for breakage or slipping. Replace if damaged.
• Motor and transmission: If the belt and agitator are good but there is no movement and no motor sound, test the motor for continuity and the transmission for binding. Replace the faulty component.
