Possible Causes
Faulty lid switch, Broken drive belt, Failed motor, Defective motor control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before testing switches or removing panels.
- Check lid switch: On top-load models, listen for a click when closing the lid. Test the switch with a multimeter and replace if it does not close electrically.
- Inspect belt: Access the drive belt and replace if broken or slipping.
- Motor test: If the belt is intact but the drum does not spin and the motor is silent, test the motor windings. Replace the motor if open.
- Control board: If the motor tests good but never receives power during spin, the motor control or main control board may be defective and should be replaced.
