Possible Causes

Clogged drain pump filter, blocked drain hose, failed drain pump motor, obstruction in tub-to-pump hose

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Unplug the washer and turn off water supply. Expect water spillage when opening hoses.

Step-by-step checks:

  • 1. Inspect drain hose: Ensure the drain hose at the back is not kinked, crushed, or inserted too far into the standpipe (should be about 4–6 inches). Straighten any kinks.
  • 2. Access drain pump: On many Inglis front-load models, remove the lower front access panel (3 screws along the bottom). Place towels and a shallow pan under the pump area.
  • 3. Clean pump filter: Unscrew the pump clean-out cap (if equipped). Allow water to drain into the pan. Remove lint, coins, buttons, and debris from the filter and pump housing.
  • 4. Check tub-to-pump hose: Squeeze and remove the black rubber hose from the tub to the pump. Look for socks or small garments lodged inside. Clear any obstruction and reinstall with the clamp tight.
  • 5. Test pump operation: With the washer reassembled, plug in and run a Drain/Spin. Listen for the pump humming and check if water exits the drain hose strongly. If the pump hums but does not move water, or is silent and hot, the pump motor is likely failed.
  • 6. Replace drain pump if needed: Disconnect power, remove wiring connectors from the pump, remove mounting screws, and install the new pump in the same orientation. Reconnect hoses and clamps securely to prevent leaks.

Note: If F02 persists after cleaning and pump replacement, check the pressure switch hose for blockages and inspect the main control board drain relay.
