Possible Causes
Defective NTC thermistor, loose sensor connection, wiring harness damage, control board misreading sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the washer before testing resistance.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Locate temperature sensor: The NTC is usually mounted in the heater bracket or in the tub wall near the heater.
- 2. Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor connector and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to the resistance chart in the tech sheet (commonly 10–50 kΩ). If reading is open, shorted, or far off spec, replace the sensor.
- 3. Inspect harness: Check the wiring from the sensor to the control board for cuts, pinched sections, or corrosion at connectors.
- 4. Replace NTC sensor: Remove any retaining clip or bracket, pull the sensor out, and install the new one firmly in place to ensure good thermal contact.
Note: If the sensor and wiring are good, the main control board may be faulty.
