Possible Causes

Clogged inlet screens on water valves, Failed hot/cold water inlet valve assembly, Low or no household water pressure, Faulty water level (pressure) sensor or wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer and turn off both hot and cold water supply valves before working on hoses or internal parts.

  • Check household water supply: Verify both hot and cold faucets feeding the Insignia washer are fully open and that other fixtures in the home have normal pressure.
  • Inspect inlet hoses: Pull the washer forward, shut off water, and disconnect the hoses from the rear of the washer. Check for kinks, crushing, or internal collapse. Straighten or replace hoses if damaged.
  • Clean inlet screens: At the back of the washer where the hoses connect, remove and clean the small metal filter screens on the Insignia water inlet valve using a soft brush. Rinse debris and reinstall.
  • Test fill function: Reconnect hoses, turn water back on, and run a quick wash. If E1 persists, the inlet valve solenoids may not be opening.
  • Check valve operation (advanced): With power disconnected, remove the top or rear panel (depending on model) to access the water inlet valve assembly. Inspect wiring harness connections. If you have a multimeter and skills, test coil resistance; an open coil indicates a bad valve.
  • Replace inlet valve if needed: If the valve is not energizing or coils are open, replace the Insignia water inlet valve assembly. Transfer any mounting brackets, reconnect hoses and wiring, and test for leaks.
