Possible Causes
Stuck or failed door lock solenoid, Mechanical jam in door latch, Faulty door lock sensor switch, Control board not sending unlock signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. Do not force the door open with tools that could damage the seal or glass.
- Wait a few minutes: Some Insignia models delay unlocking after spin. Wait 2–5 minutes to see if the lock releases.
- Power reset: Unplug for 5 minutes, then plug back in and try to start and cancel a cycle to trigger an unlock.
- Manual release: Many Insignia front-load washers have a manual release tab near the door lock behind the lower front panel or gasket. Pull the tab gently to open the door.
- Inspect latch area: Check for foreign objects or damage around the latch and strike. Remove any obstructions.
- Replace door lock: If E11 recurs, remove the front panel or gasket clamp to access the lock assembly. Replace the Insignia door lock assembly and ensure the strike aligns correctly.
- Control board check: If a new lock does not resolve the issue, the control board may not be energizing the unlock circuit and should be tested by a technician.
