Possible Causes

Blocked or kinked pressure hose, Faulty water level (pressure) sensor, Air leak in pressure hose connection at tub or sensor, Faulty main control board input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer before accessing internal components.

  • Power reset: Disconnect power for 5 minutes, then plug back in and try a rinse/spin cycle. Sometimes a transient error clears.
  • Access pressure sensor: Remove the top panel of the Insignia washer to locate the small round or rectangular water level sensor with a thin rubber hose attached.
  • Inspect pressure hose: Check the hose for kinks, cracks, or disconnections at both the sensor and tub air dome. Reseat and secure with clamps if loose.
  • Clear blockages: Detach the hose and gently blow through it toward the tub to clear soap residue or lint. Do not use sharp tools that could puncture the hose.
  • Check sensor connection: Ensure the electrical connector on the pressure sensor is fully seated and free of corrosion.
  • Replace sensor if needed: If E5 persists and hose is clear, replace the Insignia water level sensor with an OEM part. Transfer the hose and connector, then test a fill cycle.
  • Control board consideration: If a new sensor does not resolve the issue, the main control board may not be reading the signal correctly and may require professional diagnosis.
